About Job:
DRR and Livelihood Officer will be responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring disaster risk reduction initiatives as well as livelihood activities within the project. This role involves working closely with stakeholders, community members, and relevant authorities to enhance resilience to disasters and improve livelihood opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR):
- Develop, implement, and evaluate disaster risk reduction plans and strategies. Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify key hazards and at-risk populations.
- Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to ensure effective disaster preparedness and response mechanisms are in place.
- Organize training sessions and awareness programs on disaster risk reduction for communities and staff.
- Monitor and report on the progress of DRR initiatives, including the effectiveness of interventions and areas for improvement.
- Functional the Early warning system along with District Administration
- Regularly conducting DRR Forum Meetings
- Strengthening the DDMO’s offices
- Formation of DRR committees, CERT’s and DRR forum
- Designing of Tool kits in strong coordination with 1122 Department
- Identification of Safe places at community level.
- Development of Evacuation plan at community level
Livelihood Programs:
- Design and implement livelihood activities aimed at enhancing the economic resilience of communities, especially in disaster-prone areas.
- Conduct assessments to identify livelihood opportunities, skills gaps, and market demands.
- Facilitate training sessions and capacity-building activities to enhance livelihood skills and entrepreneurship among community members.
- Training on Efficient and Smart Agriculture 300 farmers
- Training on Climate Smart Community Based Nurseries 120 farmers (men)
- Training on Climate Smart Kitchen Gardening
- training on Climate Smart Fruit and Vegetables Farming
- 3-6 month (4-5 cohorts of around 40 trainees in similar trades) Vocational Trainings
- 01 Demonstration on Off Season Vegetable
- Research- demonstration on farming of mushrooms, olive, garlic, ginger
- Provide technical support and guidance to beneficiaries in developing sustainable livelihood strategies.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of livelihood interventions on the target communities and adjust strategies as needed.
- Establish and maintain effective partnerships with government agencies, NGOs, community-based organizations, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Represent the organization in relevant coordination meetings, workshops, and forums related to disaster risk reduction and livelihoods.
- Collaborate with other departments or agencies to integrate DRR and livelihood considerations into broader development initiatives.
- Maintain comprehensive records of activities, expenditures, and outcomes related to DRR and livelihood programs.
- Prepare timely and accurate reports for donors, management, and other stakeholders. Document best practices, case studies, and lessons learned to inform future programming and advocacy efforts.
Qualification Requirement:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Disaster Management, Development Studies, Environmental Science, or Agriculture. A Master’s degree is preferred.
Experience Requirement:
- Proven experience (at least 3 years) in disaster risk reduction, livelihoods, community development, or related fields
Skills & Competencies required:
- Knowledge of DRR frameworks, policies, and global standards (e.g., Sendai Framework).
- Hazard, vulnerability, and risk assessment methodologies.
- Community-based DRR and climate change adaptation approaches.
- Early warning systems and contingency planning.
- Understanding of sustainable livelihood approaches (SLAs).
- Skills in value chain development, market linkages, and enterprise promotion.
- Knowledge of agriculture, vocational training, small business management, and income-generating activities.

- Project cycle management (planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation).
- Strong skills in data collection, analysis, and reporting (including use of MS Excel, Kobo, or other tools).
- Ability to design, implement, and monitor DRR and livelihood projects.
- Emergency response planning and integration of DRR with development and humanitarian programming.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Cultural sensitivity and conflict resolution skills, especially in diverse and vulnerable communities.
- Adaptability and resilience under pressure or in emergency contexts.
