Job Purpose:

The Field Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the execution of construction and infrastructure-related field activities, particularly in WASH, shelter, and community interventions, ensuring compliance with engineering standards, donor requirements. The role includes technical supervision, site inspections, reporting, and coordination with the Regional Coordinator and Program Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise construction and infrastructure projects on-site to ensure compliance with design specifications, standards, and safety protocols.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, monitor vendor performance, and ensure quality assurance and control.
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with vendors, local authorities, and community representatives.
  • Report progress, challenges, and site conditions to the Regional Coordinator and Program Manager regularly.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate project documentation, including site logs, material usage, and work completion status.
  • Conduct new assessments and prepare estimates and BOQs accordingly, and report to the Program Manager/Regional coordinator.
  • Assist in preparing technical reports, measurement books, and cost estimates as required.
  • Ensure adherence to timelines, budget, and quality benchmarks.
  • Support in resolving on-site issues related to materials, drawings, or construction methods.
  • Promote and monitor compliance with HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) standards.
  • Assist in procurement follow-up, site logistics, and verification of delivered materials.
  • Perform any other related duties assigned by the Regional Coordinator or Program Manager.

 

 

 

 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education:
  • Diploma in Civil Engineering (DAE) with B.Tech and minimum 3+ years of relevant experience,
    OR
  • Diploma in Civil Engineering (DAE) with a minimum of 5+ years of relevant field experience.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and BOQs.
    • Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), AutoCAD (2D and 3D preferred).
    • Strong understanding of construction practices, site supervision, and materials.
    • Familiarity with quality assurance and safety procedures.
  • Other Competencies:
    • Strong communication and reporting skills.
    • Ability to work independently in remote or rural locations.
    • Problem-solving attitude and team collaboration.
    • Willingness to travel frequently to project sites.
 

Preferred:

  • Experience working on donor-funded, public sector, or NGO-led infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D and 3D.
  • Basic knowledge of environmental and social safeguards in construction.
