General mission

The Education officer having university degree in education or social sciences and at least three years’ experience of working on education in emergencies and child rights programming preferably in refugees’ settings will support HI’s EiE program in the field. The Education officer will report to the Education Specialist / Project Manager.

Missions / responsibilities

Mission 1 : Education Services 

The Education Officer will :

  • Be a key focal person for HI Non-Formal Education component at local community & district level.
  • will directly supervise the school leaders and ALP center teachers and collaborate with technical partner and relevant stakeholder at community or activity level.
  • Ensure field planning with school leaders / community worker to effectively achieve project objectives.
  • Provide on job support to school leader/ community worker for improved results.
  • Track and evaluate weekly and monthly progress and shared onward.
  • Ensure active engagement of PTC, VEC, Youth and other relevant stakeholder in social awareness and mobilization campaigns.
  • Ensure that community and stakeholders are onboard on project activities.
  • Carry out mapping exercise of out of school children in targeted RVs.
  • Ensure that all practices of the organization in the field strictly comply with HI’s policy of PSEAH (Protection of beneficiaries from Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment).

Mission 2: Community Awareness and Trainings

  • Has knowledge of community social mobilization through participatory approach to guide and monitor the activities of the school leaders in field.
  • Conduct awareness raising sessions within the community on education.
  • Ensure that the community is well-informed about available education, MHPSS and rehabilitation services and how to access support.
  • Plan & Organize capacity building sessions for teachers, school leaders/ community worker, and PTCs to effectively perform their roles.
  • Collaborate with other components within the project for trainings and seminars, and identification of cross-cutting issues that may lead to protection outcomes within the community.
  • Conduct trainings, learning sessions, and seminars with beneficiaries, and relevant stakeholders as identified.
  • Maintain follow-up of learning, feedback, and new areas identified.

Mission 3 : Coordination & Reporting

  • Identify and coordinate with external stakeholders for identification, establishment, and strengthening of the referral mechanism.
  • Support Project Manager in continuous mapping of services available in the areas of intervention and coordinate with stakeholders to disseminate information about the services available with HI to avoid duplication.
  • Participate in coordination meetings and coordinate with education clusters to ensure the availability of up to date information regarding areas of intervention.
  • Participate in district level education forum to represent organizational commitment and contributions.
  • Coordinate with CAR, ESED, SWD for social & protection services access to respective RVs communities.
  • Compile data at the end of every month for all activities as specified by the Education Specialist and Project Manager and share with Line Manager and MEAL unit. 
  • Update the educaion database regularly in both digital and hard copy forms.
  • Ensure that project MoVs are properly recorded and maintained.
  • Regular reporting and facilitation of field activities and other activities (trainings, seminars, learning sessions etc.).
  • Share lessons learnt in the field, prepare case studies and success stories pertaining to education assistance for every quarter and/or as required. 

Mission 4 : Collaboration and Field Management

  • Collaborate with school leaders, community workers, PTCs and psychologists to ensure protective education for children.
  • Collaborate with MHPSS, Protection team for integrated efforts and resources.
  • Is responsible for support in arranging training venues within the community
  • Is responsible for liaising with other organizations in the field to avoid duplication
  • Any other relevant task can be assigned by supervisor.
